There is much worry spread through out the state about what will happen for Democrats in 2010. We have yet to see a serious Governor candidate to oppose Brownback, nor have he had a true campaign for his opened Senate seat.
I am sad to say that things don’t look so bright at the moment, though there is still time, we must remember that when Sebelius ran she didn’t announce until late either and she gave us a lot of strength in the state. Despite or lack of candidates at the moment there is one Democrat who offers a glimmer of hope in 2010 for us.
Raj Goyle“I’m Raj Goyle and I am running for Congress because too many Kansas families and businesses are struggling right now. We need strong, independent leadership to tackle these challenges. I would be honored to have your support and to serve you.”
I first met Raj in 2007 when he came and spoke at American Legion Boys State of Kansas. The major goal at Boys State is to challenge you to consider, perhaps for the first time, your political belief system. Our experience indicates that most people have developed their political thinking by borrowing ideas from respected friends, teachers and parents. We are not interested in whether your personal political interests are conservative, liberal or somewhere in between. Our concern is that your opinions are yours, based on your own convictions about the role of government.
Raj spoke to us about the important of youth involvement, and how it is so crucial for us to be involved. Raj outlines four key values on his site – Hard work. Community. Love of family. Service.
Raj Goyle learned these simple values growing up in Wichita. And they are the same values that guide him every day as an active member of the community and an independent voice for common sense and reform in the State Legislature.
Kansas values inspired Raj to run for the Kansas House in 2006 because he knew his community deserved better. Raj has worked hard to bring Republicans and Democrats together to forge common sense solutions to the many challenges facing our community. He learned from an early age that serving your neighbor and serving the public is a serious responsibility — a principle he has sought to honor on a daily basis.
Raj is probably the most respectful, encourage and open elected official you will ever meet. He never fails to joke with constituents and listen to their concerns, we works actively to improve the community and move Kansas forward as a state.
Raj fulfilled his campaign promise and wrote the law restricting where Fred Phelps could picket at the funerals of our fallen heroes. Just this year he led the effort to help save jobs and provide critical assistance to thousands of laid-off workers in our community. And Raj has worked hard to pass tax cuts for Kansans to help create good jobs here at home.
Raj has never accepted politics as usual and has refused to use his office for personal gain. He has never missed a vote, never taken a free personal meal or gift from a lobbyist, and never taken a taxpayer-funded trip. He has always put the people he represents first. And he will take that same ethic to Congress.
Too often, our politics is defined by party labels but Raj knows that no political party has all the answers to the challenges we face here in Kansas. Raj approaches issues with common sense: asking what is right, what is wrong, and what is best for Wichita and the State of Kansas. He will support a good idea whether it comes from Democrats or Republicans.
Raj is a stand up politician that knows it takes bipartisanship at times to create the most overall effective change. Raj knows that Kansas has the potential to be a very progressive and open state and that by listening to his constituents and through his hard work, focus on community, emphasis on the love of family, and service he can help transform Kansas into a more prosperous and open state.
I am also proud to say that Raj is still considered a Young Democrat by that state/ national by laws! Let’s help send the only glimmer of hope in 2010 for Kansas right now to Washington and let’s help move Kansas Forward!
Raj is proud to be a Kansan. This is where he grew up and where he and Monica make their home. Raj is running for Congress to bring our Kansas values and common sense to Washington.
