Yesterday, we reported on the October quarterly filings by challengers to the open Congressional seat in KS-04, currently held by Todd Tiahrt. We weren’t able to report on how two of the challengers, State Senator Jean Schodorf and Jim Anderson, had performed in the October quarterly, because they chose not to e-file, thereby adding 48-72 hours to the Federal Election Commission’s reporting.
The FEC is still not reporting reports for either Senator Schodorf or Jim Anderson; however, Schodorf did provide a copy of her report to the Wichita Eagle and this was their summary:
State Sen. Jean Schodorf, R-Wichita, raised about $3,781, including a loan of about $1,806 made to herself, during the most recent campaign finance reporting period for her campaign in the 4th Congressional District race, records show.
She spent about $1,406, leaving her with about $2,375 in cash at the end of the reporting period, July 1 to Sept. 30.
Schodorf filed Sept. 5 for the office.
So, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess that GOP dark horse Jim Anderson didn’t raise more than State Senator Schodorf. If that guess holds true, it means that State Representative Raj Goyle, the Democratic Challenger for the KS-04 Congressional seat, outraised all the Republicans in the race–combined. Pretty impressive stats for a Democrat in a Republican-leaning district.
Here’s the final tally:
| Candidate | Raised this Quarter | Cash on Hand |
| Raj Goyle | $403,083 | $367,607 |
| Dick Kelsey | $8,726 | $60,139 |
| Mike Pompeo | $98,562 | $270,170 |
| Wink Hartman | $18,375 | $16,045 |
| Jean Schodorf | $3,781 | $2,375 |
| Jim Anderson | unknown | unknown |
The moral of the story here: the hardest worker is going to win this race, and it’s clear who is working the hardest. All five Republicans combined, excepting Jim Anderson and his tardy filing, of course, raised $129,444 compared to the $403,000 raised by Goyle.
