in Governor

Despite other suggestions to the contrary this morning, Dr. Phil is not running as Governor under the D ticket in Kansas.  The Kansas City Star’s Primebuzz, however, is reporting that there is intense speculation that Tom Wiggans, a former executive for Stiefel Laboratories, “the world’s largest dermatology company [that] was recently acquired by GlaxoSmithKline,” is in the race for the Dems.

The Kansas Democrats have a candidate for governor who plans to file preliminary campaign paperwork on Monday.

Speculation in the Statehouse is that the candidate is Tom Wiggans, a Kansas native and bioscience entrepreneur who recently returned to Kansas after living in California. An Olathe resident, Wiggans serves on the Board of Trustees at the University of Kansas Endowment.

For many months, Wiggans was speculated to be looking at a run for Brownback’s seat in the United States Senate.  We’ll post more as we learn more about this.
