This weekend will afford you plenty of opportunity to get out your political angst that is likely bubbling if you’re a progressive from anywhere across the great state of Kansas. Despite the tumultuous times that we are facing, there are some great groups putting on some great activities. Take a look, and join us out and about:

WICHITA

Our second in a series of HealthCare for Kansans Rally will be held this Saturday morning (10:00 am to Noon) at the corner of 21st and Amidon, in Rep. Brenda Landwehr’s district. She’s one of the cosponsors of the “Health Insurance Protection Act” designed to opt Kansas out of the federal Health Care Reform which would drastically benefit the people and businesses of Kansas. Come out and show her that Kansans will not allow such an atrocity to take place.

Later that afternoon (2:00 pm) you can join the 4th District Young Democrats for their December Meeting at Sugar Sister’s Bakery (Central & Oliver). A gathering of great young minds will gather to discuss the political happenings across the state, and hold their annual election.

KANSAS CITY

Saturday morning Kansas State Senator Tim Owens will be hosting a Public Forum with Representatives Kevin Yoder, Doloras Furtado, and Lisa Benlon at the Matt Ross Community Center. They’ll be discussing issues they’re sure to be facing the upcoming legislative session starting January 11th, 2010.

LAWRENCE

Sunday brings about another gathering of Young Democrats, this one the inaugural meeting of the KYD Women’s Caucus. They’ll be getting together to discuss candidates, legislation, and mission statements at the great progressive establishment – Henry’s.
