Many people are familiar with the story of Jana Mackey, KU law student and NOW lobbyist who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in the summer of 2008. Since her tragic death, Jana’s parents, friends, and several supporters have established both 1100 Torches, and more recently, Jana’s Campaign, to carry on her legacy as an opponent of domestic violence and an advocate for its survivors.
This Thursday, there will be a kick-off event for Jana’s Campaign, established in party by her parents, Kurt and Christie Brungardt, in downtown Topeka. More information can be found at www.janascampaign.org. A PDF of the open invitation to the event can be found here.
