Kansas Democratic Party

I just received this note from the Sedgwick County Dems informing us of the death of such a wonderful leader in Kansas politics.
Sadly, former Kansas House Representative, Ruby Gilbert has passed away. Rep. Gilbert, who served from 1992 to 2004, was widely known as a staunch advocate for working people and families, a [...]

The Topeka Capitol Journal has some great photos from Washington Days on their website this morning.  None of them have captions, however.  So since we didn’t do a Friday Funnies (indeed we haven’t in some time) I thought we might make a few captions of our own.
Following an adventurous Friday night, Skye Coleman was hitting [...]

Despite lackluster speaker draws (compared to Governor Schweitzer or Barack Obama in 2006) the KDP’s annual convention Washington Days had one of the largest turnouts in recent years.  Kansas Equality Coalition lobbyist Tom Witt and US Assistant Secretary for Aging Kathy Greenlee gave a special tribute to activist Steve Brown who passed away last week.

The following post was sent to me by Elliot Lahn, a candidate for the Kansas House (District 14).

[...]

Well, we are about to leave 2009 behind us, and sadly, it seems that the Kansas Democratic Party is also going to be saying goodbye to its most surefire contender for a national position.  State Senator Laura Kelly, the unchallenged Democratic candidate for the 2nd District of the House of Representatives, currently held by Lynn [...]

FiveThirtyEight did a great study recently naming the democratic Congress critters most valuable to the party.  They calculated member’s ratings based on votes this year on social and economic issues and generated a bunch of fancy numbers in the process.
Our retiring Dennis Moore was ranked ninth.
This study shows that even without being a Kennedy or [...]

Now accepting applications for Governor for the State of Kansas.  Job promises to be challenging yet potentially rewarding.  Past job applications have been able to advance to promising positions fighting the Swine Flu.  Please have understanding or experience in budgeting, supporting education, and not be too ideologically aligned with either extreme.
The Lawrence Journal World [...]
