From the Associated Press this morning…

Three Republican Kansas lawmakers are proposing a constitutional amendment they say would protect patients’ rights to consult with their own doctors on health care decisions.
State Sen. Mary Pilcher Cook and House members Peggy Mast and Brenda Landwehr held news conferences Tuesday to announce what they call the “Health Care Freedom [...]

I reported late yesterday afternoon that a deal had been made and the White House was talking down the Senate on the Public Option because it wasn’t going to be bi-partisan.  (Never mind that it didn’t stop the White House from signing the stimulus bill earlier this year)
So, a local group in Maine has launched [...]

Politico has a story today about the Kansas Congressman with real C Street “Fellowship” credibility, Jerry Moran. We’ve previously reported the indelible ties of Sam Brownback and Todd Tiahrt to the C Street “Fellowship” (here, here, and here). But, according to Politico, the Kansas Congressman that has really benefited from his close association [...]

Featured on the DailyKos today is a KS-04 Roundup of all the challengers for the Congressional seat, and the rather amazing fundraising feat performed by Kansas State Representative Raj Goyle in his bid for the KS-04 Congressional seat.
Important to note: Goyle outraised four-out-of-the-five Republican challengers–combined–for the KS-04 seat, amounting to nearly $3,500 per day in [...]

I’ve been in DC this week for conferences and meetings, but the conference I’m at today is called A Better Deal, for young people who are trying to navigate the economy in such troubling times.  I’ve told you these stats before:  youth have twice the unemployment than the rest of the country despite having [...]

Last year was a great election… well for some of my friends it was a great election. I spent the evening at the Ramada in Topeka with my other political friends who all lost their jobs that night. That night I went back and forth between the bar, the diner, our swanky room, and whoring myself to media to talk about young voters and everywhere I had a conversation with someone where they said “man… we just can’t be stopped!” My response then was: “Yeah… if we don’t screw it up…”

State Senator Laura Kelly has announced she’s running against Lynn Jenkins for the Kansas 2nd Congressional District.

Via Scott Rothschild at the LJWorld “In the last few months people from all across the district have been urging me to run for Congress,” Kelly said in a prepared statement. . .

The abstinence-only provisions, a continuation of George Bush’s bad sex ed policy, were recently added to the health care reform bill currently being debated in Congress. Sen. Orin Hatch (R-UT) introduced an amendment that passed on a 12-11 vote in the Senate Finance Committee that would provide $50 Million for these programs. The League of Young Voters believes that these provisions would continue to prevent young people from making informed and healthy decisions.

As part of the continued outreach from the 80 Million Strong program national co-chair Matthew Segal from the Student Association for Voter Empowerment testified before the Education and Labor Committee this morning.

Dick Kelsey spent some more of his own hard earned dollars to showcase some of his top brass supporters for his bid for Congress in KS-04. Last week, Kelsey posted this radio spot featuring Kansas GOP Presidential caucus winner Gov. Mike Huckabee in a strong endorsement.
